Shrink wrap is something that’s affordable for packaging different products of many types.
Many companies and beginners will package a lot of products daily. With shrink wrap packaging, you can get it for three cents per square foot of wrapping used, which is practically nothing.
The thickness and type of packaging that’s used does determine these costs, and here, we’ll go over some of the different types, and more detailed descriptions about the costs of this type of shrink wrapping options.
The Types
It does come in multiple different forms. There are bags, center folded roles, and even tubing. All of them have different advantages, depending on the packaging and its application.

Let’s go over the types below here.
Shrink Bags
One good thing for you to possibly get are shrink bags. They come in different types of plastic. They have sides that are sealed on three sides, and you just need to seal once to get the product fully enclosed.
It does vary, however for PVC, the smallest bags start out at about almost 3 cents a bag. For larger bags, they can be about 10 cents a bag, but again, this is also based on your needs.
Polyolefin tends to cost a bit more, with the smallest bags being about four cents a bag, and the largest bags sitting at around 13 cents a bag, which is usually 12×16.
Center folded shrink wrapping
This is one that’s very commonly used.
You basically take the shrink wrap, fold this in half, and then put this on the roll. Once this is folded off and pulled, you crease this, and then there are three sealed sizes. They’re great for very automatic types of machines that have a very low output.
Now, let’s talk about some of the types. You’ve got the 75 ga PVC type of shrink wrap, which per square foot, is about four cents a square foot.
You can get this higher, about 100 ga, and it’s about five cents a square foot.
There are also polyolefin options, which in this case, are a lot cheaper than their PVC counterparts. For 60 ga, you get it for about 2 cents. For 75 gauge, it’s about three cents. And for 100 ga, it’s less than four cents to get this.
Shrink Tubing
Shrink tubing is something that’s one set price, about .058 cents for square feet of tubing.
The Machine Costs
Your costs for machines are where they’re going to be much higher. Sure the bags cost nothing, but if you’re going to get certain machines, they do vary.

Now, let’s say that you just get a sealer that’s under 12 inches. Usually, it’s around $150 or less than that. Up to 24 inches, is less than $300 based on delivered items.
There are impulse sealers or heat guns, and these are good for product types less than 300 or so. Heat guns cost about $20 or so, and you can get them from the store.
As for the big machines, you want an all in one machine, and these are good for less than a thousand products a day. They can range anywhere from $2800-3800, so these cost markedly more.
For the combination machines that can handle up to 4000 products daily, you’re looking at upwards of 10 grand for a machine, if you get the powerful one and one that’s very big.
Now, shrink wrapping is great, but remember that the brunt of the funds will be spent on getting the items that are used to make the magic that these shrink wrapping machines offer.
